Work Day – Saturday 16th

Saturday 16th January was a day to remember. After days and days of non stop rain the sun came out and shone on Sam Walker and his harem – 5 volunteers from the RLNR group, the Bilton Conservation group and HANDBAG.

Sam and one of the volunteers were quickly into their waders and began the laborious task of pulling crassula (an invasive weed) out of Tritirus pond. It was then loaded onto wheelbarrows and trundled up to the hole, which had been dug by a mechanical digger the day before and buried.

The weather was kind to us and the sun shone all morning. The most difficult and gruelling job was putting the soil back into the hole that had so easily been dug out by a machine! back breaking but a good work out, no gym or jogging needed.
